PC Zone UK - posted by Dr.Haggard @ 16:09

Go to top

UK magazine PC ZONE has printed a brief news article about Severance in their November issue announcing the new publishing deal with Codemasters.
Here's a snippet:

"Luckily, those of us still wondering whatever happened to the atmospheric flickering torches and severed heads of Blade can sleep easy as Codemasters has announced it's picked up the game and is ready to release it to an over-18 world this November."

"...(Severance) still contains one of the most advanced lighting engines we've ever seen - flames dance and flicker on torches, creating real-time moving shadows - as well as plenty of über-violence to keep the kids happy."

"Codemasters promises to take a responsible approach to the game, working closely with ELSPA and the BBFC to ensure they don't overstep the boundaries of acceptability. The game will carry prominent warnings of its violent nature, as well as the popular '18' rating label on the box cover."

Dutch Severance Preview - posted by Warlock @ 0:39

Go to top

The Dutch version of G-Spot has posted a preview of Severance: Blade of Darkness. Unfortunalty, I don't understand dutch (and so doesn't BabelFish), but it seemed quite positive to me, as I *DID* understand the word "Halleluja!!!" that they started the preview with...

Games Dungeon - posted by Warlock @ 0:10

Go to top

It's weird how you come over stuff when you're actually not looking for it. Browsing around tonight I discovered a newly started website called Games Dungeon; a site aimed at [...] "reviews of Big Hits to come, on Adventures, RPG's and Action games."

Blade of Darkness is one of the games they have put their eyes on, although nothing new yet, it looks to be a site worth looking back to now and then.

On release dates... - posted by Warlock @ 12:15

Go to top

Xavier made a post, over at the new and improved official forums, clearing up some confusion going on around the release date(s) of the game. Here's how it is:

Spain/South America: Winter 2000
Rest of Europe: Winter 2000
USA: Q1 2001

I assume that the "winter 2000"-phrase still means November 2000...

Blade Special! - posted by Warlock @ 9:59

Go to top

Spanish gamingsite Meristation has kicked up a loooong and great article on Blade: The Edge of Darkness (which is the title in Spain and South America).

Although it might seem otherwise in the article (you'll know what I mean), you, as me, might need a translator, as the article is in Spanish.

Well, Enjoy!

Screenshots at Daily Radar - posted by Dr.Haggard @ 13:12

Go to top

Gaming site Daily Radar have posted 13 screenshots of Severance along with a short description of the game. Only one of the shots is new, of the knight approaching a fantastic looking temple covered with heiroglyphs :o)
Oddly they mention that they could not get a playable build of the game because it is "still quite early and was even still in Spanish". Still, despite being slightly misinformed they give a good positive overview of the game.

Some of you might wonder why I havn't been to active here at BU lateley. The reason for this is that I've been working with the new Rebel Act Studios and Blade/Severance/Blade of Darkness websites.

I now work as Rebel Act's webmaster, but will still webmaster Blade Universe. However, we could use a bit help updating news and other editing stuff. If you're interessted, send me or Dr.Haggard an e-mail.
