. . . your source for news and information on Rebel Act Studios' Severance!

Levels

Severance/Blade offers 18 levels of pure mayhem and bloodshed. Each level is set in its own, unique, environment and you’ll face new challenges and enemies in every one of them. You will travel through Desert temples, Volcanoes, Castles, Ice fortresses, Narrow Gorges, Towns, Mines, Monasteries, Submerged Palaces, Fortresses and Underground Cities. The levels are promised to be quite big; some of them larger than what's usually seen in these kinds of games.

To complete a level, you’ll need to accomplish a set of missions and in some levels you’ll face and fight some really mean and evil bastards, the well known end-of-the-level monster. While some missions need to be accomplished in order to conquer a level, others, less important quests, are available for the challenge and the joy of it, not to mention the awards you'll gain from them.

All four characters will start on their own level, suited to the area you’d expect to find the character’s race. You’ll probably start in a castle if you play as a Knight and in the Mines or some underground city if playing a Dwarf.

The music will be totally interactive with the action, taking place, and will suit the surroundings of the level you are playing. Ambient sound will help creating the right atmosphere and mood. Expect the music to be epic!

Every level in the game will be introduced with a cinematic movie sequence, rendered in real time by the 3d engine (as everything else in the game), and will help you understand your objectives and set the atmosphere. Everything will feel in its place; from the enemies you’ll face to the traps you’ll encounter.

The single player maps are large enough to make them unsuitable for multiplayer, so the game will come with a set of multiplayer levels as well. These levels will be pure arena style levels and will differ in environment as in the single player ones. The levels in multiplayer will take place both inside and outside. The different types of multiplayer games, as well as the number of levels, are not known yet, but I bet we won’t be disappointed!
