Characters
In Severance/Blade you get to choose from four
different characters, each with their own special abilities and
skills. The missions in each level will vary depending on which
character you choose to play. Each character is trained in different
fighting skills and weapons, and they offer great variation in game
play.
The Knight
The
Knight comes from Lagash, in the kingdom of Naram-Sin and is a very
well balanced character. He can use most armour and weapons except
for the really heavy ones and his speed is good. The Knight may
be the best character to start with, as he is an overall well-skilled
character compared to the three other extremes. The Knights prefer
one-hand weapons and a shield.
The Order of the Sword was established eight
centuries ago and since then it has protected the frontiers of the
kingdom against plundering. The construction of the great wall was
able to stop the small raids and the two great fortresses discouraged
all who dared dream of the orders treasures. However, one of the
fortresses has fallen and there's been no news of the other for
two weeks. The armies of the sorcerer are on the move. You have
never been defeated, but this is no joust or tournament, this is
the real war.
The Amazon
The
Amazon comes from Argos beyond the frontiers of the middle kingdoms
and is a very agile and fast warrior. She can't use heavy armour
or weapons, but this is compensated with her ability to get out
of tight situations and make a quick attack from a distance. Spears
and long ranged weapons are The Amazons favorite.
The valley is at peace, protected by the fortress
of the narrow gorge and its powerful guardian, and the Amazons carry
on with their lives as if nothing ever happened. But this peace
will not last for long. The armies of the sorcerer will tumble everything
in their path, and not even their guardian will be able to avoid
the invasion. There is, however, a slight possibility. You depart,
bow and arrow in hand, to find new allies.
The Dwarf
The
Dwarf comes from Heim. His clan lives beneath the Earth in their
mansions hewn from the stone. The Dwarfs are very strong and powerful
warriors, but slow in speed compared to the others. They are strong
and steadfast as the mountains they build their citadels in, and
can use about any armour and weapons as long as it fits. Dwarfs,
besides of having great stamina, are practically immune to poisonous
and magical potions. The Dwarf especially likes battle-axes and
concussion-weapons.
The dwarfs have always lived in peace. Sheltered
by the large gates that protect their subterranean citadels from
the outer world, they have preferred to stay away from human activity.
Never had the sorcerers' armies dared to confront the strong dwarfs.
Until now... Copperson, the traitor. It was he who opened the doors
for the enemy and allowed evil to seep inside the city of the vaults.
Time for revenge has come. You have a tremendous stamina and you
are practically immune to magic and poisonous beverages. You are
also protected by an excellent piece of armour. There is no enemy
who can withstand your strength in a fair fight... or at least in
a fair fight according to your terms.
The Barbarian
The
Barbarian is a nomad, he comes from the high steppes of Dasht-e
Kavir and Dasht-e Lut and is fit for any fight. Strong as a giant
and merciless as any of his opponents, he is the born warrior. He
is the strongest of all the four characters, but he despises the
use of armour. He's blend of intuition and stamina, along with a
lethal weapon, makes him a feared rival in the eyes of his enemies.
The Barbarians choice of weapon is the two-handed sword and other
two-handed weapons.
The tribes arrived five centuries ago fleeing
from Dal Guraks armies. They established themselves in the plains
as soon as they arrived and initiated their incursions against the
reign of the Order of the Sword. The fortress of the two towers
was soon erected and this sealed the entrance to the kingdom of
the Knights, preventing further incursions. However, there is still
a bitter feeling amongst both races. With the awakening of the dragon,
the sorcerer's armies have set forth. Time has come to forget the
past and seek new allies. You have inherited strength and quick
reflexes. You excel in fighting techniques and in weaponry. You
do not need armour since you are easily able to elude the enemy's
strikes. When dominated by the fury of the battle, all people, friends
or foes, fall under your blow
