Demo Guide

Weapons
The Blade of Darkness demo contains 12 different weapons and armour within it, this being only a small sample of the possible 80 weapons available in the full game. While the sample of weapons is small, the variety is enough to whet your appetite and allow you to experience how different and effective each weapon is when handled by Sargon.

Single Handed Weapons

Weapon:

Gladius (Sword)

Speed of Use:

Fast

Throwability:

Medium-Long distances

Armour Bonus/Penality:

0

Damage Bonus:

3

Damage Resistance:

0

Comments: The Gladius is basically the bread and butter weapon for the first half of the game, it is easy to swing for a quick succession of attacks and very easy to come by as most Traitor Knights carry this weapon.

Weapon:

Club

Speed of Use:

Medium

Throwability:

Medium distances

Armour Bonus/Penality:

0

Damage Bonus:

2

Damage Resistance:

0

Comments: The club is a relatively slow weapon to wield when compared to the Gladius, hence it's use can sometimes leave Sargon wide open for a attack. However, the club is effective towards enemy shields compared to edged weapons.

Weapon:

Axe

Speed of Use:

Medium

Throwability:

Short distances

Armour Bonus/Penality:

0

Damage Bonus:

4

Damage Resistance:

0

Comments: The axe, when used properly, can deliver a good amount of damage but again, it also suffers the same disadvantages as the club when it comes to it's speed of use.

Weapon:

Halberd

Speed of Use:

Slow

Throwability:

Short distances

Armour Bonus/Penality:

-25

Damage Bonus:

8

Damage Resistance:

0

Comments: The Halberd is a very long weapon and therefore has the greatest reach of all the weapons available. unfortunately Sargon can only swing the Halberd one way and it can take a small amount of time for him to recover from each swing.

Weapon:

Boathook

Speed of Use:

Slow-Medium

Throwability:

Medium distances

Armour Bonus/Penality:

0

Damage Bonus:

16

Damage Resistance:

5

Comments: The boathook is a rather quirky weapon, but its slightly longer reach can make it beneficial in open areas during combat. The boathook is also able to deal out a modest amount of damage which is a good boon.

Weapon:

Mace

Speed of Use:

Fast

Throwability:

Medium distances

Armour Bonus/Penality:

0

Damage Bonus:

15

Damage Resistance:

0

Comments: The mace is one of the best single-handed weapons available in the demo as it is relatively fast to wield and swing with, plus the amount of damage it can dish out makes short work to a few of the different enemies encountered. Great for smashing shields to bits!

Weapon:

Combat Sword

Speed of Use:

Fast

Throwability:

Short distance

Armour Bonus/Penality:

0

Damage Bonus:

35

Damage Resistance:

0

Comments: The Combat Sword is THE weapon for Sargon in the demo. It has a longer reach and can deliver just over eleven times the amount of damage compared to the Gladius. The perfect weapon for our Knight.

Two Handed Weapons

Weapon:

Eclipse

Speed of Use:

Very Slow

Throwability:

Forget it

Armour Bonus/Penality:

0

Damage Bonus:

20

Damage Resistance:

10

Comments: The Eclipse is a two-handed axe with a rather bizarre looking cresent shaped blade. Sargon requires a great deal of strength to wield this weapon, this limits the variety of different swings available when wielding it. The Eclipse also takes a deathly long time to swing at an attacker and is not recommended to be used.

Weapon:

Deathsword

Speed of Use:

Extremely slow

Throwability:

Get serious!

Armour Bonus/Penality:

0

Damage Bonus:

40

Damage Resistance:

10

Comments: The Deathsword is a extremely large and heavy two-handed sword, Sargon seems to struggle just to keep the blade from falling to the ground. Compared to the other weapons available in the demo, the Deathsword can deliver some serious death inducing damage but it requires massive amounts of strength before it can even be swung. unfortunately the amount of time it takes for Sargon to lift and swing the weapon, usually makes him ripe for quick kills. Purely for aesthetic purposes only.

Armour

Item:

Comet Shield

Armour Bonus/Penalty:

0

Damage Bonus:

0

Damage Resistance:

20

Comments: The Comet Shield is a small, wooden shield which can only withstand a limited amount of blows. Despite its rather small amount of resistance, it can save Sargon's life when it is most needed.

Item:

Wood Shield

Armour Bonus/Penalty:

0

Damage Bonus:

0

Damage Resistance:

80

Comments: This shield is a larger, more robust version of the Comet Shield. It can withstand a good deal of punishment before being destroyed and is certainly the more preferable shield to defend oneself with.

Item:

Round Shield

Armour Bonus/Penalty:

0

Damage Bonus:

0

Damage Resistance:

300

Comments: This shield is made out of metal as opposed to wood, which the other two inferior shields and made from. Due to it's high level of resistance, it can protect Sargon from many blows until it becomes useless.

Item:

Light Armour

Defense Rating:

10

Comments: This is the only piece of body armour you'll find in the demo. It will reduce the amount of damage taken from enemy attacks.
