Demo Guide

Combos
In addition to each weapons and weapon-class basic movements, there are the combos. Combos are special movements that are either particular useful in certain situations or more powerful and deadly attacks than usual. Of course, some are both.

To perform combos, you need to know the key combinations and in which order to press them along with proper timing. This varies a bit from combo to combo, but it's really easy to pull them off when you understand the descriptions for them. Press F1 and you'll see the following interface.

In this first page (Weapons) you have listed all weapon-specific combos. Below the weapon's name you'll find the name of the combo. The symbols under describe how to perform the combo. For instance, the "Swing of Pride", is triggered by first hitting the attack button (symbolized by the two crossing swords) and then, directly after the basic attack is completed, pressing the left and up key simultaneously (symbolized by the arrows).

When the combo is triggered, you should see the knight performing a powerful vertical slash. You'll see the motion trails are coloured red, which gives you an idea of how powerful the attack is compared to, for example, the white trails of basic attacks.

In the lower right corner of each combo-box, you'll see the letter "L" followed by a number. This tells you the required experience level your character must have in order to use the combo.

Clicking the right arrow key brings up the second page (Abilities) available in this demo. Here you'll see the possible weapon-class combos. The ones listed here can be used by all 1 handed weapons, like the sword and mace, as listed in the left column for each combo.

The same symbols are used here. The first symbol seen in the two Dodge attacks means you'll have to press the Jump key/button. This means, in the right dodge attack, press Jump and the right key simultaneously, and as the movement is completing, click the attack key (shown by the two crossed swords). The required level is listed in the same way as in the previous page.

When you see grouped symbols (more than one symbol next to another and not separated with a "+" sign), all keys those symbols represent must be pressed simultaneously. The next set of keys, if any, must be pressed, as the first movement is just about finished. For example, the "Back Attack" consists only of one group, where all the keys symbolized must be pressed down at the same time.

You'll have to try out the combos yourself too discover their usage and efficiency, but I'll give you a couple of tips. First, the "North Cross" can be hard to use with the Gladius, but is extremely useful with the Mace. The "Back Attack" is excellent if you're surrounded by enemies to all sides and need to break out. The combo triggers a 180º swing and triggered a second time right after the first one is completed gives you a nice 360º lethal clearance.

There is also discovered a hidden combo for the one-handed weapons. This is a level 5 combo and is performed by pressing [Attack][Right] + [Attack][Right].

Combos are a blast, even with the limited amount you'll find in the demo, but remember that they usually require more stamina to perform.
