Gamespy and RPG Planet - posted by Dr.Haggard @ 17:25

Go to top

RPG Planet have posted their detailed and very promising first impressions of Blade of Darkness, whilst Gamespy have finished their full review of the game giving it 81% at the end of a lengthy, interesting and generally very positive article. Definitely worth a read.

All I can say is FSCK that, the control set on this steaming pile is one of the WORST I've ever endured :( If codemasters doesn't do somthing I am gonni ISO this on Warez.com

Seeing how bad you type it's no wonder you have problems with the game's controls.

There's NOTHING that justifies illegal copying of games!

The Gamespy review sounds like they are reviewing Rune, not Blade. I totally disagree with them saying the game is simple-minded and not tactical. Every monster-type needs a different tactic to beat and each character handles fights slightly different. I just beat the game the other day with Sargon, and it sounds like those guys barely even got a few levels into it -- and the whole time they were probably just weedwacking the orcs and constantly loading everytime they got their heads lopped for playing like morons.

AND HOW THE FUCK IS THE GUY GOING TO SAY THAT BLADE SKIMPS ON CONTENT???? It has an absolute FUCKLOAD of maps, totally unique environments, weapons, monster-types. I mean jesus, I can only imagine how hypocrital their review of Rune which makes you spend the two dozen hours or so in ugly-ass Hel, killing the same monster 301023891238190 times. All the reviews I've read so far just go on and ON and ON about the lighting effects. Jesus Christ. They don't even mention that the level design is great, and at times, breath-takingly beautiful.

Blade is easily the best fantasy melee combat game ever made, imo. (and yes, I do mean it blows Die by the Sword out of the water)http://www.shacknews.com/funk.y?id=899562 for why I think that. Alot of the reviews say the game has no story, and that just pisses me off. It has no less story than any other goddamn action game on the market (barring 1 or 2 exceptions that have dialogue trees), and it plays out like an epic flick. Seems people are really looking a gift horse in the mouth, but whatever.

Cheers,

And one last thing...all these reviews make such a huge deal out of the ability to chop off limbs and use them as weapons...but Die by the Sword did that YEARS ago, and NO ONE made a big deal about it. Also...why don't ANY of these reviews mention that you can PASSWORD-LOCK the gore out for kids to play?
